"InSiSt-Walk"
A neurophysiological comparison of inhibition while sitting, standing, and walking

Imagine you are standing at a crosswalk and the pedestrian light turns green. You begin to walk but a car speeds by and you have to take a step back to avoid it. How does this process work in behavior and the brain?

In the "InSiSt-Walk" project, we aim to understand these mechanisms by examining inhibition in various contexts of movement (i.e., sitting, standing, and walking) in typically developing adults and those with ADHD. A series of multi-modal studies will examine inhibition across movement contexts through the lens of self-report criteria, objective motor tests, behavioral and cognitive task performance, gait analysis, and mobile EEG measurement.

Cognitive and Motor Development (CoMoDe)

PI: Prof. Dr. Alexander Grob

Project Leader: Dr. Emily Meachon

July 2021 - July 2025

How are cognitive and motor process related? Does this change across the lifespan?

In the project: Cognitive and Motor Development (CoMoDe) we seek to answer these questions across a variety of modalities and populations. The project has been led by Prof. Dr. Alexander Grob since 2013.
The third wave of this project series, known as "CoMoDe-3" examines the role of cognitive and motor development in typically and atypically developing populations. The planning phase for the third wave of projects began in 2021 and primary focus surrounds cognitive and motor dual-task performance with simultaneous EEG measurement. Further projects include explorations of relevant aspects of cognitive and motor deficits in atypically developing groups (e.g., people with ADHD, motor disorders, ASD, etc.).
